The Elgin OPP were called the Port Bruce area last night after a fishing boat ran out of fuel and was unable to get to shore. Police say that they received the report about a vessel in distress off Port Bruce Thursday around 9:11 p.m.
The 18 foot fishing boat had run out of fuel and the water had become very rough, with the 2 occupants in the vessel unable to get back in.
In conjunction with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, OPP deployed their police marine unit to attempt to recover the occupants, however prior to emergency services arriving on scene the operator of the boat was able to get a small trolling motor started and made their way back into the harbour.
The OPP say all parties were accounted for and no injuries reported.
