It is Environmental Public Health Week across Canada, meant to recognize the important work undertaken by Certified Public Health Inspectors.
Jessica Fiddy, a Public Health Inspector at Southwestern Public Health lists some of the lesser known functions they undertake.
Fiddy explains their increasing focus on the impacts of climate change in the community. It’s part of the awareness program presented during Environmental Public Health Week across Canada
Fiddy adds education is a key consideration in their dealings with the community.
She says, the health unit has 15 public health inspectors and two students for their coverage area.
