For the first time in more than a week, Southwestern Public Health is reporting a new confirmed COVID-19 case in St. Thomas/Elgin. This morning (Saturday), the health unit reported a new case in St. Thomas and another resolved in Woodstock.
The number of confirmed ongoing cases remains at six, with one each in St. Thomas and Central Elgin and four in Woodstock.
The health unit confirmed the new St. Thomas case is not associated with the St. Thomas Community Christian School probable case announced Friday.
Half of the ongoing confirmed cases involve individuals aged 20 to 29.
There are no coronavirus hospitalizations in the health unit’s coverage area.
The number of resolved cases now stands at 253.
