A body that washed up on shore in the Port Burwell area Friday evening has been confirmed to be that of missing boater Reginald Fisher of Dutton says Elgin County OPP.
The body of the deceased 77 year old was located on Friday (Oct 2nd) around 7 p.m. after police received a report from a jogger who advised that they had found a human body on the shore of Lake Erie just west of the Port Burwell Provincial Park beach area.
As a result of the investigation police have positively identified the body as that of Fisher who was last seen September 17th.
Fisher was last seen leaving the Port Glasgow area alone in his sailboat on September 17th around 3 p.m. He was reported overdue the following day September 18th.
Since that time police and Canadian Coast Guard resources conducted extensive searches by both air and water locating Fisher’s vessel capsized.
