The United Way’s 3M Harvest Lunch and Campaign Launch last week was one for the record books.
The event that usually sees 2,000 United Way supporters, 3M volunteers, friends and community members gather for the lunch, instead went virtual meaning funds from ticket sales went towards providing meals for those in need throughout Elgin-Middlesex.
Our local United Way was able to sell over 3,500 tickets to their first ever virtual event, smashing all prior records for 3M Harvest Lunch ticket sales, and far exceeding their goal of selling 2,000 tickets and providing 2,000 meals.
2,000 meals from local businesses have already been safely delivered to families, seniors and young people at five United Way partner agencies in our region including to Inn Out of the Cold St. Thomas.
Remaining funds will now go straight into their Community Fund to support United Way partner agencies who work every day to provide access to healthy food to kids, families and seniors across our region.
