Relief is on the way for homeless individuals in St. Thomas and Elgin county.
On Monday, MPP Jeff Yurek announced the city is in line to receive $928,000 in social services relief funding from the province.
The money will support the purchase of a new building for a permanent emergency shelter and provide operating funding for rent relief.
The funding is part of the government’s $510 million investment to help protect the health and safety of the province’s most vulnerable people.
Yurek noted the need to invest in important projects like this “to help protect our most vulnerable citizens from COVID-19.”
