A 33 year old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Talbot Street after he attempted to steal a cash register from a downtown business, twice.
Police report that the incident occurred when the man became angry after being declined a cash advance on his credit card and then tried to steal the cash register from the store.
When the male couldn’t dislodge the unit, he fled on his bicycle but returned a few moments later to try again.
The male attempted to flee a second time, only to be stopped by police a short distance away.
The man was taken into custody where officers seized a small amount of cannabis from the suspect in breach of a release condition prohibiting the male from being in possession of any cannabis product.
As a result, a 33 year old was charged with one count Theft Under $5000 and one count Breach of Release Conditions.
He was held for a court appearance.
