Ontario is reporting 977 new cases of COVID-19 this morning (Sunday) while Southwestern Public Health is advising of three new cases and one resolved. For the first time in several days St. Thomas is reporting a case and there is one new case in both Tillsonburg and Ingersoll. The resolved case is in Woodstock.
The number of ongoing is now 18, with 12 in Woodstock, two in Tillsonburg and one each in St. Thomas, Aylmer, Bayham and Ingersoll.
There are no hospitalizations at this time.
There is an ongoing case involving a staff member at Secord Trails in Ingersoll.
Fifteen of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, with four of those under 20 years of age. Meaning almost a quarter of the confirmed cases at this time involve people under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases climbs to 302.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital conducted 165 tests on Thursday.
At 30.1 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population, Southwestern Public Health is surpassed only by the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit at 31.6 ongoing cases per 100,000 population when comparing ongoing case counts in the 11 southwestern Ontario health units.
By comparison, the Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 11.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population.
Back to the provincial numbers, there are 279 new cases in Toronto, 238 in Peel, 130 in Ottawa and 113 in York Region. There are 864 more resolved cases and over 37,100 tests completed.
