The province has announced a new colour-coded system to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic at a regional level.
Premier Doug Ford says the new framework will provide residents and businesses with a clear understanding of where their region stands and why stronger restrictions might be needed.
The Green-Prevent level with the lightest restrictions is for regions with the lowest case counts and community transmission.
As they go up, restrictions are tightened to the Yellow-Protect, Orange-Restrict and Red-Control levels, with the Grey Lockdown level as a measure of last resort.
The new model will be implemented at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, with Ottawa, Peel and York regions moving to the Orange-Restrict level, with Toronto joining them a week later.
Eastern Ontario will also join the restrict level to address concerning trends, with Brant, Durham, Halton and Hamilton regions moving to Yellow-Protect as a preventative measure.
All other regions will begin at the Green-Prevent level.
