St. Thomas Police have made it clear to organizers of Saturday’s “Freedom Rally” that the city does not want the protest and they could potentially face charges should they come here.
However, Chief Chris Herridge says having them meet up at Memorial Arena and march along the Whistle Stop Trail is a better alternative than going to the CASO Station and then heading down Talbot Street.
He says officers will be on the front line, keeping the peace and gathering information should there be a need to lay charges after consulting with the Crown Attorney.
Herridge adds, “We get this protest in, we move it out of town and do it as peaceful as possible to minimize the impact to our community.”
