A COVID-19 case that was first announced as presumptive has now been confirmed at Straffordville Public School in Elgin County.
The Thames Valley District School Board announced late Tuesday that Southwestern Public Health was notified of an ill individual who attended the school on Friday and confirmed an active case in a release Thursday night.
Staff, as well as parents, guardians and students have been notified and the school will remain open at this time, with school buses continuing to operate.
SWPH is currently investigating this cases and is in the process of identifying close contacts and following up directly to provide specific testing advice.
If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk.
The health unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact and will advise them to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days.
