Because of an increase in cases, more evidence of community transmission, more tests coming back as positive, and an increase in outbreaks, the Southwestern Public Health region is housed in the Orange-Restrict zone.
Medical officer of health, Dr. Joyce Lock, says it’s not necessarily about more restrictions put in place.
She says it’s a reminder we have to remain vigilant with regard to COVID-19 safety measures.
The move into the restrict zone is based on the current case count of 28.4 cases per 100,000 population.
The area will remain under these restrictions for a minimum of 28 days unless there is a need for tighter restrictions.
