Southwestern Public Health is warning the community about a batch of yellow fentanyl that has led to overdoses in the area.
The health unit says that this specific yellow fentanyl requires as many as 4 doses of naloxone if an overdose does occur.
SWPH also says they have received emerging reports of orange fentanyl circulating the area.
As a result, they remind the public that if an overdose does occur to…
– Call 911 as you will not be charged with possession for calling in an overdose
– Give naloxone if an opioid overdose is suspected (it may take more than one dose)
– Stay with the person until paramedics arrive.
– The person should go to the hospital with paramedics for further treatment.
