Ontario reported 1,373 new cases of COVID-19 today (Wednesday) while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 7 new cases, including one in Bayham. One case has been resolved and there was a death reported, the sixth in the region since the pandemic began. The victim was an Aylmer man in his 70s.
There are 54 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 22 in Woodstock, six in Ingersoll, five in Norwich, four each in St. Thomas and Aylmer, three in Tillsonburg and Blandford-Blenheim, two in Bayham and Central Elgin with single cases in Dutton-Dunwich, East Zorra-Tavistock and Zorra.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Aylmer.
Bethany Care Home in Norwich has an outbreak with 3 residents and one staff member testing positive. One staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock has also tested positive.
There are three hospitalizations at this time, none in ICU.
Thirty-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 11 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 446.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 184 tests on Monday.
