Ontario reported 1,822 new cases of COVID-19 today (Saturday) while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 11 new cases, including two in St. Thomas, one in Aylmer and the remainder in Oxford County. Seven cases were resolved.
There are 57 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 22 in Woodstock, eight in Ingersoll, six in St. Thomas, four each in Tillsonburg and Zorra, three each in Aylmer and Blandford-Blenheim, two each in Central Elgin and Norwich, with single cases in Bayham, Dutton-Dunwich and East Zorra-Tavistock.
Three students have tested positive at Assumption Catholic Elementary School in Aylmer and one at Forest Park Public School.
One staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock has tested positive.
There are two hospitalizations at this time, with one individual in ICU.
Thirty-seven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 10 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 474.
There are 27 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 26.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 267 tests on Thursday.
