Ontario reported a record 1,925 new cases of COVID-19 today while Southwestern Public Health is advising of nine new cases, including three in St. Thomas and two in Aylmer. No cases were resolved.
There are 102 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 23 in Woodstock, 22 in St. Thomas, 19 in Aylmer, 13 in Ingersoll, six in Tillsonburg, five in Bayham and Zorra, four in Norwich, two in Blandford-Blenheim and SW Oxford and a single case in Southwold.
Two students have tested positive at East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer and one at Forest Park Public School in St. Thomas.
One staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer has tested positive.
There are no hospitalizations at this time.
Seventy-seven of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 21 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 530.
There are 48.2 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 55.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 177 tests on Saturday.
