Ontario reported 1,676 new cases of COVID-19 today while Southwestern Public Health is advising of eight new cases, including two in Bayham and one each in Aylmer and Central Elgin. Twenty cases were resolved.
There are 90 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, 20 in St. Thomas, 18 in Aylmer, 17 in Woodstock, seven in Bayham and Ingersoll, six in Zorra, five in Tillsonburg, four in Norwich, two in Blandford-Blenheim and single cases in Central Elgin, Southwold, East Zorra-Tavistock and SW Oxford.
Four students have tested positive at East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer, two at Elgin Court Public School and one each at Forest Park Public School and Parkside Collegiate in St. Thomas.
One staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer has tested positive.
There are no hospitalizations at this time.
Sixty-four of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 21 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 550.
There are 42.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 60.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 180 tests on Sunday.
