Central Elgin councillor Tom Marks last night was elected Elgin county warden for 2021.
He defeated Central Elgin Mayor Sally Martyn in both an in-person and electronic vote – the first such vote in the county’s history.
Past Warden Dave Mennill will serve as deputy warden.
Marks noted the environment in which the county is governed is rapidly changing and “we must be ready to adapt quickly as new challenges arise.”
Marks has served for many years on both Central Elgin and county councils and is a member of the Southwestern Public Health board of directors.
He will chair his first county council meeting tomorrow.
