A 32-year-old Southwest Middlesex man faces several charges after hitting the centre median on Hwy. 401, west of Union Road.
Around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Elgin OPP received a report of a vehicle striking the median, with the airbags deploying. They then received reports the heavily damaged vehicle was continuing westbound. Police stopped the car at Iona Road and the lone occupant was charged with impaired driving. He was not injured.
He was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene and operating a vehicle with no insurance. He will appear in St. Thomas court on Jan. 26.
