Ontario reported 1,983 new cases of COVID-19 today (Thursday), another one-day record while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 19 new cases, including nine in St. Thomas and five in Aylmer. Thirteen cases were resolved.
There are 94 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 28 in St. Thomas, 16 in Woodstock, 14 in Aylmer, six in Bayham, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg, five in Norwich, four in Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra, three in East Zorra-Tavistock and single cases in Central Elgin and Southwold.
Currently three individuals are hospitalized with two of those in the ICU.
One staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer has tested positive.
Sixty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 25 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 577.
There are 44.4 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 60.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 377 tests on Tuesday.
