Ontario reported 2,357 new cases of COVID-19 today, while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 31 new cases, including four in Aylmer, three in West Elgin and two in St. Thomas. Thirty-five cases were resolved.
There are 156 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 28 in Norwich, 24 each in St. Thomas and Aylmer, 20 in Tillsonburg, 12 in Woodstock and Blandford-Blenheim, nine in Ingersoll, eight in Bayham, seven in East Zorra-Tavistock, five in West Elgin, three in Central Elgin and Zorra and a single case in Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich and People Care in Tavistock have tested positive, a staff member has tested positive at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg which also has one resident infected
One hundred and two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 34 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 727.
There are 73.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 71.9 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 413 tests on Thursday
