Ontario reported 2,123 new cases of COVID-19 today (Monday), while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 18 new cases, including six each in St. Thomas and Bayham and three in Aylmer. Twenty-one cases were resolved.
There are 158 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 28 in St. Thomas, 27 in Aylmer, 24 in Norwich, 22 in Tillsonburg, 10 each in Bayham, Blandford-Blenheim and Woodstock, eight in Ingersoll, six in East Zorra-Tavistock, five in West Elgin, four in Zorra, three in Central Elgin and a single case in Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Seven residents and two staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, along with two staff members and a resident at People Care in Tavistock and two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich.
A staff member has tested positive at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, Terrace Lodge in Malahide, Chartwell in Aylmer and Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg.
104 of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 28 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 766.
There are 74.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 82.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 249 tests on Saturday.
