Ontario reported 3,270 new COVID-19 cases today while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 47 new cases this morning, with 15 cases resolved.
There were 16 new cases in St. Thomas, 6 in Aylmer, three in Bayham, two in West Elgin and one in Southwold.
Two deaths were recorded and there have now been 16 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
There are 399 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 94 in Tillsonburg, 81 in St. Thomas, 53 in Aylmer, 47 in Woodstock, 36 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 22 in Norwich, 12 in Bayham and SW Oxford, 11 in Zorra, seven in Ingersoll, six in Southwold and Blandford-Blenheim, five in Central Elgin, four in West Elgin and three in Malahide.
Currently 19 people are hospitalized with six of those individuals in the ICU.
Fifty residents and 33 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 32 residents and 24 staff at People Care in Tavistock, three staff at Chartwell in Aylmer, two staff at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, five staff at Terrace Lodge in Malahide, three staff at Bethany Care Home in Norwich, two residents at Elgin Manor in Southwold and one staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock.
One hundred and ninety-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 54 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 1,053.
There are 189.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 142.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 640.0 cases per 100,000 population and 3,577.1 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 195 tests on Saturday.
