Ontario reported 3,266 new COVID-19 cases today while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 52 new cases, with 47 resolved.
There were 16 new cases in St. Thomas, nine in Aylmer, two in Bayham and one each in Central Elgin, Dutton-Dunwich and West Elgin.
No new deaths were reported.
There are 407 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 103 in Tillsonburg, 75 in St. Thomas, 51 in Aylmer, 50 in Woodstock, 36 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 21 in Norwich, 14 in Bayham, 13 in Zorra, 10 in Ingersoll, nine in Central Elgin and SW Oxford, four in Southwold, West Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim, three in Malahide and one in Dutton-Dunwich.
Currently 19 people are hospitalized with six of those individuals in the ICU.
Fifty-six residents and 39 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 34 residents and 27 staff at People Care in Tavistock, three staff at Chartwell in Aylmer, two staff at Seasons Retirement Home in St. Thomas, four staff at Terrace Lodge in Malahide, three staff at Bethany Care Home in Norwich, two residents at Elgin Manor in Southwold, one staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock and one resident at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas.
Two hundred and three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 59 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 1,159.
There are 192.4 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 187.2 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The crude rate for St. Thomas is 717.1 cases per 100,000 population and 3,804.1 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 268 tests on Monday.
