Although the province announced Thursday there will be no in-class learning until at least January 25, the Ministry of Education has directed school boards to offer in-person learning opportunities to students with special education needs who cannot learn remotely.
Thames Valley elementary and secondary school students with significant special needs enrolled in self-contained classes will be offered the opportunity to return to school today (Monday).
All other students will continue to learn remotely at home until their scheduled return to school on January 25.
“We recognize that remote learning may present challenges for students with significant special needs,” says TVDSB Education Director Mark Fisher. “That is why we are providing parents and guardians with the option for these children to return to school on Monday.”
School staff will reach out to families of students enrolled in special education classes to review this option.
