Premier Doug Ford has announced that Phase One of the province’s COVID-19 vaccine plan is well underway and they are getting ready to expand the vaccine rollout as soon as the supply is available.
About 1.5-million eligible people will be vaccinated in Phase 1, including all residents of nursing and high-risk retirement homes by February 15th.
Retired General Rick Hillier, chair of the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force, says this will be done even if some homes do not have an outbreak.
Hillier says that will rise to 8.5-million people by the end of Phase Two — set to begin as early as March.
Phase Three for the general population could begin as early as August.
