New rules and regulations are now in effect for small businesses and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business is not happy.
All non-essential retail stores are not allowed to open before 7 a.m. and close no later than 8 p.m.
Director of Provincial Affairs, Julie Kwiecinski says it just doesn’t make sense.
Kwiecinski says there is no evidence that local shops are to blame for spikes in COVID-19 cases.
She adds small businesses are worse off now than before thanks to the new pick-up and delivery curfew of 8 p.m.
New restricted hours of operation do not apply to stores that primarily sell food, pharmacies, gas stations, convenience stores, and restaurants for takeout or delivery.
Premier Doug Ford does say enforcement officers will be paying close attention to big box stores and offenders will pay the price.
