Ontario reported 1,969 new COVID-19 cases today with 36 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 10 new cases this morning, with 3 cases resolved. No new deaths have been recorded. Two new cases were reported in St. Thomas and one each in Bayham and Dutton-Dunwich.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region remains at 12 per day.
There are 166 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 58 in Woodstock, 23 in St. Thomas, 21 in Norwich, 17 in Tillsonburg, 13 in East Zorra-Tavistock, eight in Aylmer, seven in Ingersoll, four in Bayham, three each in West Elgin, Blandford-Blenheim, SW Oxford and Zorra, two in Dutton-Dunwich and one in Malahide.
Currently five people are hospitalized with one of those individuals in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 40.6 % were admitted to the ICU.
Eighty-five residents and 52 staff members at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg have tested positive, with 47 residents and 36 staff at People Care in Tavistock, three staff members at Terrace Lodge in Malahide, two residents and two staff member at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, 1 staff member at Extendicare in Port Stanley and Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock, one resident at Dayspring Residence in Tillsonburg, 38 residents and nine staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock, and one staff member at Elgin Manor in Southwold.
Sixty-three of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 13 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,082.
There are 78.5 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 336.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 59.1 cases per 100,000 population and 106.8 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 114 tests on Saturday.
