Ontario reported 1,072 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 41 deaths. Meantime, Southwestern Public Health is reporting just seven new cases. A total of eight cases were resolved. One new case is reported in Aylmer.
No new deaths were recorded and the toll remains at 65 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region sits at 10 per day.
There are 116 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 70 in Woodstock, 16 in St. Thomas, 13 in Ingersoll, four in Norwich, three in Dutton-Dunwich, two in Aylmer and Zorra, and one each in Malahide, West Elgin, Central Elgin, Blandford-Blenheim, SW Oxford and Tillsonburg.
Currently two people are hospitalized, neither one is in the ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 38.7 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
A total of 47 residents and 38 staff have tested positive at People Care in Tavistock, 1 staff member at Extendicare in Port Stanley and Arches Transitional Bed Program in Woodstock, one resident at Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich and 51 residents and 18 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Forty-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 13 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,217.
There are 54.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 352.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 41.1 cases per 100,000 population and 26.7 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 265 tests on Monday.
