Ontario reported 1,300 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 19 deaths. Meantime, Southwestern Public Health is reporting just six new cases. A total of 25 cases were resolved.
No new deaths were recorded and the toll remains at 64 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases in the region is down to eight per day.
There are 91 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 51 in Woodstock, 10 in St. Thomas, nine in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg, four in Norwich, three in Dutton-Dunwich, two in Zorra and one each in Malahide, West Elgin and Blandford-Blenheim .
There are no hospitalizations. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 35.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
A total of 47 residents and 38 staff have tested positive at People Care in Tavistock, 1 staff member at Valleyview Home in St. Thomas, one resident at Trillium Retirement Home in Norwich and 53 residents and 23 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Forty-two of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 17 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,269.
There are 43.0 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 40.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 25.7 cases per 100,000 population and there are no ongoing cases in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 179 tests on Thursday.
