Following the weather conditions the area is currently experiencing, the Aylmer Police have issued some winter driving tips.
Police remind motorists that the majority of collisions occur because drivers do not adjust their driving according to the road conditions and “If you see, snow … go slow.”
Increase your distance, decrease your speed when traveling in the winter and give yourself extra time to reach your destination. If road conditions are poor, stay home if possible and don’t drive if you don’t have to.
Making sure your fluids, especially windshield washer fluid is topped up in your vehicle in very important.
In addition make sure you have appropriate tools in your car, like a snowbrush, an emergency kit with blankets, water, and anything else you may need if you get stuck.
Police also urge vehicle owners to consider winter tires to assist with traction.
