Not so sweet news this week from the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority. A March highlight each year – the annual Maple Syrup Festival – has been cancelled due to the coronavirus and the province’s move of March break into April. Ranger Em, community outreach technician at Springwater Conservation Area, says the initial plan was to cut back the festival to a couple of weekends.
She adds by April, the sap is no longer running and staff, instead, will be preparing for the camping season.
Ranger Em says, all going well, the festival will return next year at its normal time.
