A 19 year old St. Thomas resident must have been in quite the rush Wednesday afternoon when he was clocked driving 118 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.
STPS traffic specialist Officer Chad Nevill was monitoring road safety on Highbury Avenue when he observed the vehicle heading towards South Edgeware Road at a high rate of speed.
Radar registered the vehicle’s speed at 118 km/hr, 58 kms over the posted limit.
As a result, the 19 year old male driver was charged with Stunt Driving under the Highway Traffic Act and issued a summons to appear in court.
Police seized the vehicle for seven days and it was towed to a nearby compound.
