While COVID-19 numbers continue to decline across the Southwestern Public Health region, medical officer of health Dr. Joyce Lock stresses the need for people to continue to get tested for the coronavirus.
Dr. Lock adds, people need to continue with testing even if they only have one mild symptom.
It’s the only way the health unit can determine the status of the virus in the region.
During her COVID-19 update Wednesday, Dr. Lock also advised vaccines are again arriving in the region.
She says only healthcare workers identified on lists supplied by area long-term care and retirement homes will be eligible to be vaccinated at the Agriplex.
She adds the priority target group will be those 80 years of age and older with details to be released soon on clinic dates and locations.
Dr. Lock notes the earliest they expect seniors outside of retirement homes to get a vaccine is the second week of March.
