The province is reporting 1,150 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 47 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting just a single new case.
A total of 12 cases were resolved.
No new deaths were recorded and the toll remains at 65 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is five new cases per day.
There are 50 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 22 in Woodstock, 10 in St. Thomas, five in Tillsonburg, four in Ingersoll, two in Aylmer, Zorra and East Zorra-Tavistock and one each in Dutton-Dunwich, Malahide and West Elgin.
There are four hospitalizations, two of whom are in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.5 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One staff member at Valleyview Home in St. Thomas has tested positive as has one resident at Aylmer Retirement Residence and 54 residents and 23 staff members at Caressant Care in Woodstock,
Twenty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 12 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,338.
There are 23.6 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 26.0 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 25.7 cases per 100,000 population and 26.7 per 100,000 in Aylmer.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 207 tests on Wednesday.
