The Aylmer Police have charged a 44 year old female resident with assault following an incident that stemmed from the suspect refusing to wear a mask inside a local business.
Police say that on February 19th around 5:08 p.m., officers attended the business after security engaged the female in the store when she was observed not wearing a mask and failed to comply with the direction of the security officer.
The female claimed she was exempt from wearing a mask and the options regarding alternative methods of purchasing groceries were explained to her; however, she continued to refuse to follow the direction of the security officer.
The female continued to shop and was at the checkout when another store employee, a 20 year old female from Aylmer was assisting with cancellation of the products purchased.
Police say the suspect then grabbed the employee’s hand and pushed her away.
As a result, the 44 year old female from Aylmer was charged with Assault and trespassing, Fail to leave premises when directed and Engage in prohibited activity on premises.
