The province is reporting 1,258 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 28 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 8 new cases. Five cases were resolved. There are five new cases in Aylmer and one in St. Thomas
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is now five new cases per day.
There are 43 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 16 in Aylmer, 14 in Woodstock, five in St. Thomas, two in Ingersoll and Blandford-Blenheim and one each in Bayham, Central Elgin, West Elgin, and Tillsonburg.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Aylmer Retirement Residence has tested positive.
Thirty-nine of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those eight are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,376.
There are 20.3 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 18.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 12.9 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 213.6 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 238 tests on Wednesday.
