The province is reporting 1,062 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 20 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting 31 new cases. Just four cases were resolved. There are 29 new cases in Aylmer.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average is now 11 new cases per day.
There are 84 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 59 in Aylmer, 12 in Woodstock, three in St. Thomas and Blandford-Blenheim, two in Ingersoll and Tillsonburg and one each in Bayham, Central Elgin and West Elgin.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Aylmer Retirement Residence has tested positive.
Eighty of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those eight are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,383.
There are 39.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 16.6 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 787.5 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 223 tests on Thursday.
