The province is reporting 966 new COVID-19 cases this morning with 11 deaths while Southwestern Public Health is reporting six new cases. Six cases were resolved. All of the new cases are in Oxford County. Aylmer’s case total declined by three as individuals at the Ontario Police College returned to their homes to self-isolate and the numbers are transferred to their local health unit.
The death toll remains at 67 since the pandemic began.
The seven-day rolling average stays at 11 new cases per day.
There are 82 ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 54 in Aylmer, 13 in Woodstock, three in St. Thomas, two in Blandford-Blenheim, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg and one each in Bayham, Central Elgin, West Elgin, East Zorra-Tavistock, Norwich and Zorra.
One individual is hospitalized in ICU. Of the cases hospitalized since the pandemic began, 34.8 per cent were admitted to the ICU.
One resident at Aylmer Retirement Residence has tested positive.
Seventy-six of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those eight are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 2,391.
There are 38.8 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 19.1 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region. The crude rate for St. Thomas is 7.7 cases per 100,000 population and Aylmer has 720.8 cases per 100,000.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 107 tests on Sunday.
