Even a year into the pandemic, the residents of St. Thomas and Elgin County continue to go above and beyond to make a positive difference in the community.
For sisters Victoria and Jessica Gallacher, their idea to bring a smile to the face of seniors in our community in the way of “Thinking of You” cards has not only brought joy to the most vulnerable in our city but also to them.
myFM spoke with Victoria who explains how the idea to start their organization “Penlink” came about.
The teen run organization collects cards or pictures via their website and then prints them onto photo paper to be distributed between different seniors home throughout St. Thomas.
Victoria says they’ve made 2 donations to date, including one just before Christmas.
Their second donation of valentines themed cards went even better then the first with roughly 10 times the amount of cards submitted.
She says they encourage the community to get involved, simply by uploading your design to their website.
To view previous submissions or to make one of your own, visit Penlink.ca.
They hope to make another delivery to local seniors homes in the month of March as well as collect some Easter themed cards for April.
