Local cat shelter Pets/Friends for Life – St. Thomas has put a call out to the community as they struggle with literally keeping the roof over their heads.
The non-profit organization who has devoted their time to finding homes for kittens/cats in St. Thomas has reached out in the form of a GoFundMe, as a new roof is badly needed to keep all cats and volunteers safe.
Karen Peters Secretary Treasurer at Pets/Friends for Life explains how the issues first came about.
Time passed, new leaks appeared and more patches were applied.
Staff now says that the roof resembles a patchwork quilt and is unlikely to hold up once the spring thaw starts.
Peter says that because they are a non-profit, most of their funds go towards vet bills.
She adds that because these animals don’t have a voice of their own, they need to step up and be the voices for them.
