No surprise here. The first block of COVID-19 vaccinations for those over 80 years of age was booked very quickly this morning (Tuesday). There are still limited appointments available next week for Indigenous individuals over the age of 55 and eligible healthcare workers.
The health unit notes there was a relatively small number of doses available for the week of March 15, however it is expected 5,000 new appointments will be available for eligible individuals for the week of March 22, according to Jaime Fletcher, program manager of the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force.
Eligible St. Thomas and Elgin County residents will be able to book the next block of appointments beginning next Monday.
SWPH assures residents there will be vaccine for everyone who wants it and the number of appointments will keep increasing as the supply increases and then
stabilizes.
On Monday March 15, eligible residents of Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas should again call 226-289-3560 or visit http://www.covidvaccinelm.ca to book into the next available block of appointments.
