While the majority of cases have been resolved, there is no official date for the resumption of classes at the Ontario Police College following last month’s COVID-19 outbreak. According to the Ministry of the Solicitor General, 112 positive cases have been identified, with 82 cases considered resolved.
Since the outbreak, classes have been suspended.
Spokesperson Brent Ross advises the college continues to work closely with Southwestern Public Health to ensure the continued health of the recruits, staff and community. He adds, this includes mandatory screening, isolation as appropriate, on-site testing, and providing personal protective equipment.
Ross notes the college is working with the health unit to determine when it will be feasible to return to the in-person format.
There were six new cases reported in the SWPH region today (Wednesday) with only one in Elgin county. There are 14 ongoing cases in Aylmer.
