An investigation is continuing into a fatal fire Wednesday morning in West Lorne. Elgin OPP, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the Chief Coroner are all involved in determining the circumstances involved in the blaze in an upper apartment on Graham Road.
This morning (Thursday), investigators discovered human remains inside the apartment. A post mortem will be conducted to positively identify the individual and determine the cause of death.
Firefighters from two West Elgin Fire Department stations were on scene to bring the fire under control. It was initially thought no one was in the unit at the time. Damage was limited to one unit upstairs in the building.
