The city of St. Thomas is preparing for the start of 2021’s major construction project- Fairview Avenue.
Phase 1 of the project is set to get underway on Monday, March 22nd, spanning roughly from Southdale Line to Axford Parkway.
Patrick Anckaert Manager of Capital Works for the City explains some of work that is set to take place over the next 8 months or so.
He says a new multi use path is also on the construction plans.
The 1.6 km construction zone from Southdale Line to Elm Street will be closed to the public and a detour route will be set up on Southdale Line, Centennial Avenue, and Elm Street.
The street will be accessible to local traffic only from March to October says Anckaert.
As far as access for St. Joseph’s Catholic High School students, Anckaert says they have that covered.
He adds that the project is rather important in scope.
