In what is being pegged as an historic investment in 80 long-term care projects in the province, Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek advised Thursday afternoon one of those projects is in Port Stanley.
Yurek added, “The number of people in Elgin-Middlesex who will need long-term care is expected to rise over the next decade. Today’s announcement will help ensure we have safe, modern spaces ready for them.”
“Today’s announcement means that Extendicare Port Stanley can be redeveloped to modern design standards,” noted Anthony McKenzie, Extendicare Regional Director Southwestern Ontario.
The new building will replace the existing 60-bed facility and feature a behavioural support unit. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
