Ontarians over the age of 75 can start scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments through the province’s booking portal Monday.
Adults 75 and older were set to become eligible by the first week of April but Premier Doug Ford says immunizations are ahead of schedule.
During this morning’s announcement the premier announced more than 50 percent of Ontario residents over the age of 80 have already received a first dose of vaccine and that over 1.4 million doses have been given across the province.
In the SWPH region, those eligible can book online at http://covidvaccinelm.ca. Those unable to book online can call 226-289-3560, although call volumes are expected to be very high.
Because it is expected there will be a very high demand for appointments on Monday morning, the public is asked to be patient when trying to book a vaccination date. Appointments will be available up to and including Monday, April 5th.
Medical officer of health Dr. Joyce Lock says the health unit is pleased with the results of the early vaccine efforts in long-term care and retirement homes, “where we currently have no reported outbreaks.”
