An 80 year old man was given more than he was hoping for Saturday when he pulled over to ask St. Thomas Police for directions, while driving impaired.
Police say the Teeterville Ontario resident waved officers down to ask for directions on Centennial Avenue Saturday afternoon, while they were stationed running radar.
The man motioned to the officer and as police approached, they discovered the man had been drinking.
The male failed a roadside screening test and was taken into custody, where it was determined that the male had one and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The driver was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He was later released on an Appearance Notice for court.
