Today 94.1 myFM and Fanshawe Career and Employment Services St. Thomas are shining a light on 9 amazing individuals, businesses, organizations and support staff that have stepped up and made a positive difference in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some may think it’s sheer luck that our Unsung Heroes Day falls on Mental Health Week, but we prefer to call it fate as we highlight CMHA Elgin for their continued efforts throughout the pandemic.
Mental health has always been a very important, but also controversial issue. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major effect on our lives, with most of us facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and can cause strong emotions.
Dan Logie, Director of Clinical Services at CMHA Elgin says their services were immediately impacted.
And for many, mental health struggles and issues have only been heighten by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Logie says calls received through their crisis line nearly doubled.
And that wasn’t the only issue they were immediately met with.
Logie adds that even though they’ve faced and continue to face some major challenges throughout the pandemic, there are always some positives to take away.
