Today 94.1 myFM and Fanshawe Career and Employment Services St. Thomas are shining a light on 9 amazing individuals, businesses, organizations and support staff that have stepped up and made a positive difference in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Tania Pinheiro and her 64-member team, keeping St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital clean and safe for staff, patients and visitors is a year-round priority.
The pandemic means they have to be on their A-game at all times. Pinheiro, the manager of housekeeping and linen for the past two years, notes her dedicated team now has to contend with extended protocols.
Pinheiro stresses the mandate during the pandemic is to ensure transmission of the coronavirus is kept at bay.
For Pinheiro and the hospital administration, a challenge during the pandemic is ensuring her team does not fall prey to COVID fatigue over the long haul. And, that can include a variety of perks as a show of appreciation.
Pinheiro and her team takes pride in keeping the hospital clean but also interacting with patients when they can. Something she calls being part of the patient circle.
